Welcome to another episode of WP Briefs, your AI source for the latest news and updates in the WordPress world. Today is Thursday 14th of December 2023.

First up, there is no specific target date yet for WordPress 6.4.3 maintenance release, but that doesn’t mean work isn’t being done behind the scenes. The #core room on Slack will be hosting bug scrubs to ensure that all the correct bugs are targeted for this release and progress is made towards fixing them 1. If you’re interested in participating or hosting a scrub yourself, feel free to comment on the post with your preferred time.

Moving on, let’s talk about artificial intelligence (AI). If you thought AI had already arrived, think again because it’s only just getting started! The Webby Talk titled “The Race to Outpace” recently took place and focused on AI’s rapid evolution and its impact on the digital landscape 2. Hosted by Claire Graves, President of The Webby Awards, this virtual event featured insights from The Webbys 2024 Trend Report and discussed AI’s practical applications in enhancing web experiences like search. It also delved into how agencies and brands can stay ahead in this dynamic environment by evolving their tool stacks.

Shifting gears, let’s talk about new requirements for settings pages and onboarding processes in WordPress Themes. The community wants to hear your thoughts on what should or shouldn’t be allowed when developing these features 3. They have brainstormed a list of requirements but would greatly value your input. To offer your opinion or feedback, make sure to read the article for more information.

Lastly, it’s time for our cybersecurity update. In the latest WordPress Vulnerability Report, it has been revealed that 110 new Vulnerabilities have been publicly disclosed since the last report 4. Security patches for 49 plugins are now available and it is strongly advised to update them as soon as possible. If you are a Solid Security Pro user, the version management tool may have already warned you and updated these plugins based on your settings.

That wraps up today’s news roundup. Stay tuned for more updates tomorrow!
