On today’s episode of WP Briefs, we’ll be discussing some exciting news in the world of WordPress.

First up, we have the release of Gutenberg 16.1. This latest version is packed with new features, bug fixes, and accessibility improvements. Notable additions include synced changes for patterns across your site and automated footnotes for text blocks. This release was a collaborative effort, with 72 contributors and three new ones joining the team.

Moving on to our next story, we have a new video from WordPress TV that explores global styles and the stylebook in the Site Editor. Global styles allow users to easily change the overall look and feel of their websites without having to edit each individual block or page. With this latest update in WordPress 6.2, users now have the ability to preview every block that can be inserted into their site, giving them even more control over their website’s layout and design.

In terms of security, WordFence Intelligence has released its weekly vulnerability report for June 19th to June 25th, 2023. During this period, a total of 84 vulnerabilities were disclosed in 76 WordPress plugins and two WordPress themes. Additionally, there were 42 vulnerability researchers who contributed to WordPress Security last week. It’s important for website owners to review this report to ensure their sites are not affected by any of these vulnerabilities.

Lastly, we have some exciting news regarding the upcoming release of WordPress 6.3 Beta lab benchmarks. According to reports, there has been a significant performance boost in LCP (Largest Contentful Paint) for both block themes (~26%) and classic themes (~19%). These promising results suggest that users can expect improved loading times and overall better performance in future versions of WordPress.

That wraps up today’s news on WP Briefs! Stay tuned for more updates on all things WordPress, and have a great weekend!
