Welcome to WP Briefs, your daily dose of WordPress news. Today is Thursday, June 29th, 2023. Let’s jump right into the headlines.

In our first story, discussions surrounding the renaming proposal for Gutenberg took center stage last week among its contributors when they debated renaming the Command Center to Wayfinder for WordPress 6.3. However, the majority opposed it, favoring Command Palette instead. The decision aimed to ensure easy translation, consistency, discoverability, and understanding. The timely conclusion was important for the upcoming release, benefiting the global WordPress community, as 52% of users operate the software in languages other than English.

Moving on to our next story, we have some exciting news for WordCamp enthusiasts. WordCamp Asia 2024 has officially been scheduled in Taiwan! Save the date - March 7th to 9th, 2024 - and get ready to experience this remarkable event at the Taipei International Convention Center.

If you’re an eCommerce store owner using WooCommerce, this next story might interest you. You can now easily change the add to cart button color on your website. This simple customization can enhance your users’ experience and potentially boost conversions.

Security is always a top concern in the WordPress community. Recently, miniOrange addressed an authentication bypass vulnerability in their WordPress Social Login and Register plugin. With over 30,000 active installations across various websites, it was important to address this issue promptly.

At WordCamp Europe 2023, attendees were introduced to an exciting project called the WordPress Playground. This browser-based platform allows users to access a full version of WordPress directly in their web browser. It’s an innovative development that many found intriguing.

Lastly, we have an update on the latest beta version of WordPress - Beta 2 of version 6.3 is now available for download and testing purposes only. Remember not to install or use this version on live websites as it’s still under development.

And that wraps up today’s news roundup on WP Briefs for Thursday, June 29th, 2023. Stay tuned for more updates tomorrow!
