WordPress Marketing Team Launches 'From Blogs to Blocks' Campaign Ahead of Platform's 20th Anniversary

The WordPress Marketing Team has launched a new campaign called “From Blogs to Blocks” ahead of the platform’s 20th anniversary. The goal of this campaign is to encourage users to transition from traditional blog post formats to the more modern block-based editor. This initiative includes resources such as tutorials and case studies showcasing the benefits of utilizing the Gutenberg block editor.
In other news, WordPress TV recently released a new video tutorial exploring category templates with block themes. Category templates allow users to create custom page layouts for specific categories of posts, and this tutorial provides step-by-step instructions on how to customize and display these templates.
The first community theme in WordPress history is now live in the Themes Directory. The theme, called Stacks, is designed for creating slide decks that can be used for presentations. Users can include multiple stacks on their site by creating posts and inserting the “Stacks” pattern.
The results of the 2022 Annual Survey have been released, revealing valuable feedback from members of the WordPress community. The survey underwent significant updates this year, with a reduction in questions from nearly 100 to only 29, and socio-economic questions were mostly removed. The results provide insight into how users interact with WordPress and what changes they would like to see in future updates.
Gutenberg 15.7 was recently released, and the “What’s New in Gutenberg” blog post provides an overview of new features included in this update. These informative posts are published biweekly following every Gutenberg release.
The BuddyPress plugin is undergoing a reorganization effort aimed at better maintaining and evolving the plugin. This initiative is based on user feedback and the goal of ensuring that BuddyPress remains a valuable tool for WordPress users.
Finally, Caseproof, the makers of MemberPress, have acquired WishList Products, the parent company of WishList Member. This acquisition will allow Caseproof to expand its offerings and provide even more value to WordPress users.
